Foundations are usually Non-Governmental and Not-For Profit Organizations and at their inception or conceptualization, there supposed to be a primary aim and sole motive upon which it is being formed, registered and operated. Their intents and purposes are differed: from gender balance matters to prevention of domestic violence, from human rights protection to ecosystem conservation and environmental-friendly preservation; from deepening democracy to institutionalizing good governance initiative; from Economic Empowerment to Commercial emancipation; People Living With Disability (PLWD) to health-related issues, from entrenchment of humanity to protection of other living creatures (domestic animals and wild life) etc. So, since every man is a product of his background, what informed the founder of an NGO is instinctively dictated and directed by founder’s volition – a conscious choice and the mental power or ability of choosing and above all, the will.
In view of the above, there exists many NGOs and they are all rendering their “chosen” selfless services to humanity and ecosystem holistically. But when talking about difference that is clear within the uncountable NGOs, Focus On Disability (FoD) Foundation is the right first point of reference.

Focus On Disability (FoD) Foundation is situated at Hassan Lasisi Street, off Sabo–Itanrin Road, Latogun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria is one good, convivial and loveable “Home From Home” for children with disability. Its focus is on “ability within disability” and unwaveringly doing all it needs to bring the ability to fore from its children’s disability. FoD is striving daily to endure children in its care achieve their socio-economic status so they can favourably cope with their counterparts with no disability. The quality schooling and standard education of their wonderful children are not joke with while they are given the right exposure in order to complement their education appropriately. Experiment and experience are composite supply to the children living in the FoD’s peaceable safe haven and tender care of founders, Mr. and Mrs. Paseda; both living in United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, what interest and’ arrest this writer was when he took a mother and proprietor of a School to the Home on an inquiry mission. Sincerely speaking, what transpired during the visitation marveled this writer and objectively necessitated this article as what supposed to be a normal routine inquiry turned out to be interactive, informative, and educative for the visitors.

It was Mrs. Paseda, the charismatic and energetic Co-Founder who opened the conversations and made the mother and even the proprietor/teacher of the little girl, Oyinkansola who has been teaching from nursery till date and this writer to realise and learn so many things about children with disability. Despite her high societal status and international exposures, she unassumingly and politely delivered her lectures and mentored all her listeners. Their orientations were nicely reshaped and positively changed as to the right care to be given to special children with disability. And she tutored the mother to obtain affidavit on consent from High Court before entrusting her little to their care at FoD when many so-called desperate “Homes” for motherless, fatherless and disability children are safe nets for dragging innocent and unsuspecting children for organs harvest, Baby Factories, and human trafficking.

These pretentious but nefarious “Homes” require no affidavit, no proper documentation, no referees, and orientation except that just bring your “unwanted” children because at that material time, the children are “unwanted and unneeded” to their biological or foster/adopted parents. If not, they would not have gone to “abandon and dump” their precious God’s gifts at a place without legitimate scrutiny and legal screening. Mrs. Paseda requested for previous and current Medical Reports on Oyinkansola, her disability classification by the medical practitioners as well as her academic reports in order to know where to rightly come in and essentially be of helping hands. She also tenderly drilled Oyinkansola herself by requesting that she be giving pen and paper test her writing ability and reading skills. Mrs. Paseda instantly and frankly discovered that Oyinkansola is having Learning Difficulties but these difficulties are surmountable and shall collectively be defeated as she is willing to “Act Well her own part” in supporting Oyinkansola achieving her dreams and fulfilling her destiny in life.

Crowing the robust conversations and life-transforming encounters was when Mr. Paseda took over the Panel of Enquiry and Discussants’ Floor. Like his dearly wife, Mr. Paseda, a down-to-earth, amiable and indefatigable founder equally explained what needed to be done and stated expectations from the girl’s mother, teacher and to whom it may concerned on Oyinkansola’s special case. Finally, Mr. Paseda unequivocally declared that, “She is welcome and free to live in our Home without reservation or qualms”. May God continue to rightly guide and firmly guard these humane couples and their caregiving staffs at, “Focus On Disability” (FoD) Foundation globally.
