Every year, millions of Nigerian students take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The UTME is an entrance exam for people who want to gain admission into public and private universities in Nigeria.
When will the 2025 JAMB registration start? This year, registration will start on Monday, February 3, and end on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), which organizes the exams, has released information about the exam.
JAMB said that they will not consider candidates who are younger than 16 years old by September 30, 2025.
However, they also mentioned that exceptionally brilliant candidates who are younger than 16 years old by that date might be considered.
To check if a candidate is exceptionally talented, they must score at least 80% in the UTME/A-Level, PUTME, SSC, and any exceptional candidate exams.
So, what is the step-by-step process for 2025 UTME/DE registration?
How to create a profile for UTME registration: The first step is for every candidate to create their own profile. To do this, they need to use a unique mobile phone number for registration. This number can only be used by one candidate.
This phone number will be the candidate’s unique identification for all JAMB-related activities, now and in the future. The candidate will also need their National Identification Number (NIN) for this process.
Candidates should not use post-paid or special bundle lines, as these won’t work unless they are specially loaded with credit.
After sending the text, the candidate will receive a Profile Code on the same phone number. If they’ve registered before, they will still get the same profile code for the same number they used before.
The phone number used for registration will automatically be linked to the candidate’s name and will be used for future applications, exams, and admissions.
JAMB will then send an e-PIN by text message to the candidate’s phone.
Candidates will need to present the profile code and e-PIN at any JAMB-accredited CBT center.
The registration will not be complete until the candidate’s biometrics are captured and their photo is taken. Passport photos are not needed.
Once the biometrics and photo are successfully captured, the candidate will be allowed to print their e-registration slip.
Candidates must use at least two fingers to print their registration slip.
JAMB will require the candidate’s fingerprint for any future verification of their profile.
Group or school-based registration for candidates: JAMB does not allow group or school-based registration for candidates.
Only candidates whose biometric verification is successful will be allowed to sit for the UTME or mock exam.
Parents are not allowed to handle any transactions for a candidate’s profile.
Candidates with biometric issues can only register at JAMB’s national and state offices. Special arrangements will be made through JAMB’s state offices for this.
In Abuja, candidates with biometric issues will take the exam on the last day of the national examination schedule.
