Igbile-Ijebu is one of the notable ancient Towns in Ijebuland. It is a famous town under Odogbolu Local Government in Ogun State strategically located not only in the hearts of many neighbouring towns but shares borders with Ala in the South, Ibido/Jobore in the North, Oke-Orundun in the West and Ikise in the East.
Igbile is rich in ancestral artifacts, and reputed for conservation of its precious heritage and preservation of its cultural values. The domestication of one of the Agemos out of the sixteen we have in the entire Ijebuland is a testament that this great Town is among the respectable ones adoring the landmass of Ijebuland. The most edifying description of Igbile-Ijebu is that, Agemo Festival that is annually hosted on first Saturday of August of every year is now on the UNESCO Calendar as one of the important cultural festivals that are being celebrated annually globally.
But as notable as Igbile is, it does not have a king for a very long time that nobody can accurately remember or vividly recollect when last a King reigned there. And considering the longevity of not having a king over this Kingdom, one can then imagine how happy and excited all the sons, daughters, friends and well-wishers of the ancestral Town could be when one of its illustrious son, Barrister Kolawole AbdusSalaam was crowned on Thursday 26th December, 2024 as Jaun of Igbile by His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Adetona, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
In an event witnessed by mammoth of crowd and graced by dignitaries to include but not limited to Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), a lovable two term governor of Ogun State and now sitting distinguished Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District and other royal fathers from Ijebuland; Awujale admonished the newly crowned king on how his reign could sustain the high level of acceptability and adorability that brought him there. He was charged to go and direct affairs of his kingdom with sincerity of intention, unity of purpose and above all, in utmost good faith. Other kings who were asked on the authority of Awujale to bless his admission into the Council of Obas and Traditional Chiefs in Ijebuland enjoined him to rule with good listening ears, fair dealing, objectivity and justice.
In achieving this giant feat that has eluded the Town for many decades, the entire Igbile natives will forever remain grateful to those that initiated and facilitated the entire process to its fruition stage. At the vanguards of these people of valour and nobility who made the dawn of glorious new era possible for Igbile are Otunba Gbega Daniel (OGD) –the Ogidi Omo himself, Alhaji Tajudeen A. Olukoya, the Balogun Adinni of Igbile Central Mosque, Chief Pelumi, the reigning Serefusi of Igbile, the Olorituns, CDA Chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Alli, the Chief Imam of Igbile, and Chief M. B. Adejinrin, the Bobajiroro of Igbile.
Other notable progressive personalities who contributed significantly to the unfolding progress of the town are Rev. Wale Odewole, the Balogun of Igbile, Otunba Oluewu, Alhaji Otuneyinwa, Mr. Wasiu Lawal, Mr. Ifabanwo Bolaji, Mr. Jimoh Lateef, Mr. Oseni Azeez and Comrade Kayode Bariyu Salami.

May Oba Kolawole AbdusSalaam, Gbadewolu I, Jaun of Igbile live long in sound health, and abundant wealth while it is highly optimistic that his reign shall herald in rapid growth and sustainable development not only to his immediate kingdom but entire Ogun State thereby enabling him to bequeath lasting impressive legacies to be cherished and emulated by others.
